My Work

Monique’s Approach

“My goal is to help the people I work with become their clear, loving, authentic, creative, fearless Self. To shed the masks acquired for survival from turbulent, arid or hostile environments and to release the projections of who/what others want them to be.”

Therapy and spiritual practice are different things. Psychotherapy is licensed clinical care. Reiki, shamanic practices and ceremonies are spiritual offerings. They can sit alongside each other, and you can choose one without the other.

Psychotherapy

Monique starts from the premise that everyone has a healthy core, and that her job is to keep you company as you reconnect with it. Because each person is different, she draws on several approaches rather than one.

Depending on what you need, sessions may include talk therapy, Internal Family Systems, the Comprehensive Resource Model, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, mindfulness, art and journaling, past life regression, and work with legacy burdens—beliefs and patterns passed down through families.

People come to her when they are

  • Challenged by anxiety, depression, loneliness or trauma
  • Grappling with sexual or developmental trauma
  • Wishing for a deeper, more peaceful relationship with a partner, or with people in general
  • Wondering about their life path, or longing to connect with their core Self and spiritual knowing
  • Wanting to come into right relationship with their sexuality

She also offers life and work-purpose coaching, and integration sessions for people who have had psychedelic experiences.

Testimonials

What clients say

I have been a client of Monique Lang’s for about a year. Through my work with Monique I have gained a significant amount of clarity surrounding who I am and what I truly want from life. I don’t believe I could have gotten this far this quickly with another guide. This work we have done has improved my life tremendously. The entire experience has been and continues to be a blessing. Thanks Monique, for everything.

Stacie J

It’s always so wonderful to talk with you. Your energy and presence is so deeply grounding and my head clears and life makes sense and feels safe again.

Sue A

Deeply present and empathic, Monique has the authentic and highly developed skills to facilitate exploration of core issues that bring one into contact with growth experiences that open the doors to real change. She has been a true guide on my journey.

CW

When I work with Monique Lang, I feel she attunes to all the different parts of me as they emerge: my spirit, my inner child, my higher self, etc. She is able to understand my conflicts intuitively on a deeper level without needing much information. I feel seen when I am with her. Also, she has a killer sense of humor.

Spiritual practice

Earth-based practice & energy work

Earth-based practices draw on the four classical elements. In Monique’s trainings, earth is about grounding and releasing old patterns; water about cleansing and flow; fire about letting go of old beliefs and calling in courage and energy; and air about thoughts, breath and inspiration.

She also offers Reiki, energy work, and shamanic clearings, which she describes as clearing heavy energy from a person’s physical, mental and emotional fields.

Although spiritual offerings, distinct from psychotherapy, they can sit alongside therapy, and you can choose one without the other.

Families & lineage

Ancestral & lineage work

Some of what we carry didn’t start with us. Monique works with legacy burdens—also called the trans-generational transmission of trauma—to notice which beliefs and decisions came down through a family line, and to set down the ones that no longer serve.

In 2023 she co-led Healing Through Generations, an online series on ancient wisdom, ancestral healing and IFS therapy, with Tatiana Dávila and Daphne Fatter, PhD.

Forensic psychological evaluations

For many years Monique has written psychological evaluations and affidavits for asylum (Application for Asylum and Withholding of Removal), T-visa and VAWA cases, for organizations including HealthRight International, Catholic Charities and Sanctuary for Families, as well as private law firms.

She interviews applicants and prepares an evaluation that their legal counsel presents to the court. Her training as a psychotherapist, and her fluency in French and Spanish, help many people feel comfortable telling their story.
